One of the great joys in living in Seattle is access to the protected waters of Puget Sound. The possibilities are limitless as to where one can go for an extended trip or even for just a day cruise.  That is just what we do, as several other families have done over the past 82 years in a 1940 42-foot Chris-Craft Double Cabin Enclosed Bridge Cruiser called Maranee.

In this site, you have the opportunity to learn about Maranee, from its former owners to the on-going restoration and preservation by its current owners, the Paynton family of Seattle. Chris-Craft's design is a beautiful blend of form and function, a combination that will never again be repeated in the same way.

Enjoy what this site has to offer and take this opportunity to relive what boat ownership was like in the 1940s and what it has become throughout the past six and-a-half decades. Many thanks go out to the families of Ernie Dowd, Virgil Waite, Robert F. Wolfe and Wayne Quinton. Thanks also to Jerry Conrad, Chris-Craft Archivist at the Mariner's Museum. This site wouldn't be as colorful without their stories, photos and memories aboard Maranee.
