Foredeck Refinish

In 2012, we began the lengthy and arduous task of refinishing the foredeck.  Heat gunning the old finish was followed up by chemical remover and sanding through the grits.

The 70 year old mahogany still looked healthy and lovely with its finish removed.

Every seam had to be reefed out and cleaned in preparation for new caulking to be applied.

Finish removed and sanded, seams all reefed and ready.

Following the application of sealer and a few coats of varnish, every seam was taped off prior to the application of Sikaflex white.

Deck completely stained with Interlux 573, ready for primer clear coat.

A battery powered caulking gun helped speed up the seam process.

Fifteen total coats of varnish.
